In winter I like to write about Madrid in summer.
In summer, when the heat strikes Madrid and long days become endless, I miss the icy cold of winter and the long, freezing nights.
In summer, however, there are scattered all over Madrid many public parks of all sizes devised to suit all tastes.
My favorite is a few meters from our house, north of Madrid.
It is a park surrounding a large concrete tank where the water from the reservoirs that supply drinking water to the city is stored.
In Madrid, these water distributing facilities have also become green areas carpeted with flowers, leafy groves and meadows where children play football.
They are a perfect summer haven where I take refuge from the heat, so as not to miss the hardships of winter.
