MANZANARES EL REAL
Madrid Museum Tours guides you through most stunning sceneries for hiking in an unknown Madrid of mountains, forests, streams and awesome views.
Madrid Museums Tours licensed guide will meet you in the early morning at your hotel, in a private Van, to take you to one of the most stunning sceneries for hiking in rural Madrid, full of big and dense bushes of 2 yards height, colourful wild flowers and pure water streams descending from the mountain.
At a vast meadow we will look down to wonderful panoramic view of Manzanares El Real and its lovely water reservoir. Many mountain goats will be watching us but will never come too close.
Hiking this place is so entertaining. The best is the ascension of the chimney, which is a very narrow canyon, about 27 yards long, that runs between huge rocks of curious shapes and ends at the Top of the mountain.
Here are the views really of astounding beauty. Wherever you look, you see an indescribably amazing and magnificent nature which is missed, unfortunately, by those tourists who spent all the time in Madrid downtown.
After the descent, we will recharge our energy with a tasty tapas and wine break. Later we will visit a luxurious castle which is the most important example of Spanish military architecture of the XV century: Castle Manzanares el Real, built in 1475, declared Historic Artistic monument in 1931 and full restored in 2005. The view from outside to the 4 towers of the castle and its 6 floors is absolutely breathtaking.
Inside, we will admire its huge rectangular courtyard from the large windows of a Gothic gallery, considered to be the most beautiful of Spain. We walk through galleries and chambers that will show us how impressive was medieval architecture in-and outside, the lavish way of life of old Spanish aristocracy and the amazing work of the technicians involved in 2005 restoration.
